RFS highlights local wireless expertise at PT/EXPO COMM 2007

Against a backdrop of phenomenal wireless growth in China, Radio Frequency Systems will demonstrate its unique perspective on the wireless world at PT/EXPO COMM CHINA 2007. In support of China’s wireless market, which exceeds 500 million subscribers, RFS will exhibit a range of innovative base station antennas, transmission lines and wireless indoor solutions.

According to RFS Product Management Director Asia Pacific North, Zhu Du-qing, the RFS display will reflect the ever-growing strength of the local organization. “RFS China manufactures the full range of RF technology, from transmission lines to RF conditioning. With global responsibilities and expanded R&D capabilities, RFS China is an acknowledged leader in the field,” he said.

Central to the RFS exhibit will be the launch of a new platform of high-performance Optimizer base station antennas. The Optimizer ‘S-series’ of broadband antennas has been designed to deliver excellent performance across the entire 1710-2170 MHz band. “RF behavior differs at the lower and upper end of the frequency band, but for optimum network performance it’s essential that the uplink and downlink are balanced,” said Zhu. “Initially, there was no single antenna on the market that satisfied this need, but the innovative Optimizer range provides the solution.”

In response to widespread demand for environmentally friendly base station solutions, and the growing challenges surrounding site acquisition, RFS will reveal an expanded range of antenna system cluster configurations at PT/EXPO COMM. The low-profile RFS integrated cluster series supports any member of RFS’s high-performance Optimizer cellular antenna family with variable electrical tilt. “Up to 20 degrees of independent antenna azimuth adjustment is available in either direction,” said Zhu. “It is the only cluster on the market with this capability, making it ideal for the new developments springing up across China.”

Also on display is the world’s first corrugated aluminum transmission line—CELLFLEX Lite, a foam-dielectric cable with an aluminum outer conductor and a copper inner. Introduced to accommodate higher-power wireless applications, CELLFLEX Lite combines light weight with robust construction and advanced electrical performance.

Complementing CELLFLEX Lite is the new OMNI FIT connector series, which is electrically compatible with both copper and aluminum transmission lines. “The versatile nature of the OMNI FIT allows network providers to streamline their inventory.” said Zhu. “Since it is compatible with both types of conductors, users don’t have to keep multiple connector varieties for each transmission line variant.”

Zhu commented that in China, the growth in wireless extends across a number of key technology areas. In the wake of massive government spending on public infrastructure, RFS is supporting a number of important rail tunnel projects with Wireless Indoor Solutions (WINS). At PT/EXPO COMM, RFS will display its locally manufactured RADIAFLEX radiating cable, which has been widely used in such projects.
