RFS extends its range of 8-pole PeakPower+™ bandpass filters for digital TV (DTV), now offers a total of 10 8-pole and 6-pole models

Amsterdam, August 31, 2011 – At IBC 2011, Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), the global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, today announced the availability of the full range of 8-pole models in its breakthrough line of PeakPower+ bandpass filters. The five 8-pole filters complement the five 6-pole filters for a total of 10 PeakPower+ models. Both the 8-pole and 6-pole models are available in a 500 W, 1 kW, 2.5 kW, 5 kW and 10 kW variant to ensure that RFS can meet the full range of DTV requirements globally.

RFS’ 8-pole PeakPower+ filter range includes all of the well-known characteristics of the PeakPower+ line. For example, they incorporate two cross couplings to meet all mask filtering requirements and feature a very compact design for ease of integration. They also offer the highest power rating and lowest insertion loss for their size. The filters are tunable over the full UHF frequency band (470-862 MHz) and support adjustable bandwidth across the 6, 7 and 8 MHz channels for global applications. PeakPower+ filters are ideal for critical and non-critical ETSI and ISDB-T applications as well as ATSC applications.
RFS’ PeakPower+ filters represent a breakthrough in coaxial filter technology because they can safely sustain the very high peak power requirements of DTV. As a result, broadcasters can expect fewer system shutdowns and increased revenue through the safe addition and diversification of digital channels and services within their existing infrastructure. Before the PeakPower+ line of filters was available, coaxial combiner filter technology was limited in its ability to handle DTV’s peak power requirements. Beyond this limit, larger and costlier waveguide combiner technology was required.
