RFS Announces Pre-Assembled and Field-Installable Weatherproofing Options for RF Connections

Meriden, CT (United States), September 22, 2014 – Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), the global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, today announced two new weatherproofing options for RF connections. RFS will now offer CELLFLEX® Factory-Fit Jumper Assemblies with a pre-installed weatherproofing system included, as well as an easy-to-install Weatherproofing Boot System option for fast fabrication in the field.

RFS’ Weatherproofing Boot System is currently available in 7-16 DIN interfaces. It protects RF connections at the antenna and Remote Radio Head (RRH) using an easy-to-install slide and twist concept that prevents moisture migration into the connector interface. The boots can be installed within seconds in the field with no mastic or tape, and are removable and re-usable. The boot system has a reduced footprint with no courtesy wrap required and its compact profile fits between multiple antenna ports on MIMO antennas. Its re-enterable design also makes it an ideal option when PIM/Sweep testing is required.
RFS’ CELLFLEX Factory-Fit Jumpers are available in a variety of interfaces and feature specially designed connectors which are soldered-on in a strictly controlled industrial process to ensure industry-leading performance for today’s complex wireless systems. The connector design and manufacturing process has been optimized to produce premium VSWR and IM levels. The CELLFLEX® Factory-Fit Jumper Assembly with pre-installed Weatherproofing System is waterproof up to IP 68 The pre-installed slide-up style weatherproofing system saves time and installation difficulty in modern multiport antennas and remote radio units where port spacing is at a minimum.

Our system allows customers to perform weatherproofing in minutes instead of hours and the easy-to-use boot allows them to fabricate on-site, even in the tight sections between multiple antennas or RRHs,” said Matt Grella, manager - Transmission Line & Wireless Indoor Solutions at RFS. “Several major wireless carriers are already using our pre-installed jumper boots and weatherproofing kits to provide reliable performance and decrease downtime in the field.

RFS facilities produce and stock all popular lengths of CELLFLEX, and can deliver custom lengths with premium VSWR and IM levels on request.
