RFS Announces Digital Dehydrator for Microwave Antenna Systems Pressurization

Meriden, CT (United States), November 18, 2014– Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), the global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, today announced the release of its APD-D Series Automatic Pressurization Dehydrator available in multiple Standard System Capacity and Large System Capacity models. The APD-D Series will provide reliable pressurization of elliptical waveguide, coaxial cable and rigid transmission line systems -- and the new digital design will now enable easy on-site configuration of options such as humidity, high pressure, run time and system purge.  

The APD-D dehydrator includes a self-contained, completely automated air drying system that utilizes a pressure swing adsorption cycle to provide pressurized dry air while continuously purging the collected moisture to the atmosphere. It can be retrofitted into any existing RFS dehydrator installation, easily integrating with existing microwave antenna system equipment. It also supports easy option upgrades with no system downtime required by enabling options to be added to the base model or reset based on customer specifications in the factory or in the field by working with RFS. Alarms can be cost-effectively added and configured based on factors determined by the customer, even for small systems that operate at pressures as low as 1psi. All APD-D models have the function to download operating data for easy maintenance and troubleshooting.
 
“When it comes to pressurization, run time and other options for microwave antenna systems every customer has different needs for their specific system,” said Andy Stanek, RFS area product manager, microwave antenna systems. “We were previously limited to what was installed at the factory prior to deployment. Now, the APD20-D’s microprocessor-controlled design gives RFS customers the flexibility to easily configure options in the field as needed.”
 
Customers can purchase the base model of APD20-D that is most appropriate for their needs, then add or re-configure additional options for a fee as needed. Operating data can also be downloaded in the field on a USB memory stick for easy maintenance and troubleshooting.

APD-D is CE rated and RoHS compliant. There is a 13% size reduction over previous dehydrator models and lower noise and vibration. Alarms are visually indicated via LEDs displayed on the front panel, making it easier for users to read and interpret notifications for greater efficiency. RFS engineers will provide continued support to guide users in configuring the options that are best for their specific systems.
