Nortel Networks recognizes global RFS team

Global telecommunications company, Nortel Networks, has endorsed wireless technology group, Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), as a 'Preferred Supplier', in recognition of RFS's global supplier status. This initiative has been framed to address critical themes deemed central to an excellent working relationship. RFS, which supplies Nortel Networks with RF conditioning products, transmission lines, plus base station and microwave antennas, was awarded 'Preferred Supplier' status based on strong values of quality, cost, delivery and a vision of strategic, forward-driven cooperation.

According to Curtis Cadrain, who manages the Nortel Networks Global Key Account for RFS, this recognition is a testimony to RFS's global approach to business. "Ultimately this means that all elements of our business model have been recognized as integral to Nortel Networks solutions," he said.

Nortel Networks has established a process of regularly re-assessing its supply chain in order to categorize their suppliers as Strategic, Preferred or Approved. During 2004, over 2000 of Nortel Networks suppliers have been scrutinized, resulting in approximately 100 'Preferred Supplier' commendations.

RFS has recently collaborated with Nortel Networks on various development projects. For example, in 2003 RFS developed band-specific RF conditioning modules for Nortel Networks code division multiple access (CDMA) 800 MHz cellular base stations. More recently, Nortel Networks and RFS co-developed a 'next generation' MIMO base station antenna which was displayed by Nortel Networks at the 2004 CTIA show in Atlanta.

"This award demonstrates a focus on excellence that actually works to the advantage of all our global customers, present and future," said Cadrain. "As collaborative ventures such as these come to fruition, RFS is demonstrating its dedication to growing with Nortel Networks in order to address network needs as the market requirements change."
