During the RFS StayConnected Days at Convergence India 2011, RFS showcases its latest innovations for 3G evolution and wireless cell site engineering in India

New Delhi (India), March 16, 2011 – During Convergence India 2011 (March 24-26 in New Delhi, India), Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), the global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, will feature the RFS StayConnected Days @ Convergence India 2011, effectively creating the event inside the event. RFS will reinforce its strong commitment to 3G in India, by showcasing its microwave antenna systems and site optimization products alongside HYBRIFLEX™ and DC-FIT™, RFS’ outstanding feeder and connector innovations for Remote Radio Heads, helping to reduce costs for 3G deployments in India.

Convergence India has a proven track record of being the most coveted telecom event in the Indian telecom industry, bringing together prominent stakeholders from industry and Government to play a principal role in setting the direction for strategic growth in 2011 and beyond.

The RFS StayConnected Days @ Convergence India 2011 builds on the very successful RFS StayConnected Days roadshows program. This year, attendees will learn more about RFS’ responses to major customer trends and new innovations designed to ease and accelerate the implementation of 3G networks in India.

Meet with Kuldeep Tikoo, RFS India’s Managing Director

Kuldeep Tikoo, RFS India’s Managing Director, will be available to meet with attendees to the RFS StayConnected Days @ Convergence India 2011. Tikoo will take the opportunity to share his priorities and vision of the Indian market and to provide advice and expertise to those present at the event.

“I look forward to meeting personally with many Indian operators, OEMs and installation companies during this year’s RFS StayConnected Days at Convergence India 2011,” says Tikoo. “By listening to their needs and challenges, I can share with them the many ways that RFS can help them achieve their objectives — in particular those objectives related to 3G evolution and wireless cell site engineering in India.”

RFS – Commited to 3G in India

During the RFS StayConnected Days @ Convergence India 2011, RFS experts will discuss 3G deployments in India, highlighting ways to ease network development and reduce costs. They will also discuss the best ways to manage new frequencies and spectrum rebanding complexity as well as RFS’ state-of-the-art solutions to minimize the challenges of Remote Radio Head deployments.

To illustrate its expertise, RFS will feature a number of highly innovative solutions, including:

RFS CompactLine® EASY, the most compact microwave antennas on the market, enabling operators to optimize 3G performance,
RFS’ range of site optimization products, combining solutions, tower mounted amplifiers, co-location Filters, simplifying infrastructure requirements and optimizing performance of 3G networks in India,
RFS HYBRIFLEX™ Feeder Cables, the world’s first lightweight aluminum hybrid feeder cabling solution to combine optical fiber and DC power for Remote Radio Heads in a single corrugated cable,
RFS DC-FIT™ connectors, which substantially reduce installation time and costs when upgrading existing sites to Remote Radio Head technology

Site Engineering challenges in India

“Time, cost and risk are the three biggest challenges 3G licensees in India face as they work to address the wireless broadband needs of the local market and claim a share of the higher revenue potential offered by 3G wireless broadband,” says Tikoo. “Deploying new sites may not be economically feasible so operators will probably have to share sites with other players.”

“However,” explains Tikoo, “adding antennas to accommodate 3G requirements delays time-to-market, is expensive and may not be possible given the space limitations and the weight and wind load allowances that must be considered for shared site deployments. Our discussions will cover specific site engineering needs related to evolution to 3G, quality, cost and multi-frequency requirements for site engineering as well as innovative solutions for multi-band base station antennas and Remote Radio Head architectures.”

RFS: Serious about India

With a production facility in Kolkata, and logistic centers strategically located in all four geographical regions of India, RFS can quickly and efficiently handle all countrywide logistical requirements.
